I spent a great couple of days at The Celtic Manor in Newport this week.  (Thank you David and Amy!!)

I was privileged to lead the first two days of the FAW / UEFA pro diploma coaching programme.  22 participants chosen from almost 200 qualified applicants.  A great mix of talented development, coaches and established international players about to embark on a coaching career.  All participants were currently in coaching roles (with one of them on his way to the UEFA Champions League Final as the Assistant Coach to Borussia Dortmund).  Other International ex-players included Nuri Şahin, Dante, Andy King, Chris Gunter, Gaël Clichy, Jon Walters, Michael Valkanis, Pa-Modou Kah and a host of influential coaches from diverse backgrounds and clubs.

A terrific group, full of team spirit, optimism, and ambition.  All eager to learn and all committed to supporting and developing each other and this great game of ours.

Hard to imagine a better start to a week then spending time with this group.  They left me for two days of survival training with the SAS in Hereford.  My thoughts are with them!!!
