An Independent Man

One of life’s all-time Greats passed away last month.  Eddie Jordan.

Formula One team owner, driver, journalist, musician, investor, media personality, entrepreneur, rugby club owner – and ‘Elder’ who people turn to – is no longer with us.

One of Red Rose’s Spartans – Ian Bolger – sent me a brilliant note from Keith O’Loughlin summarising the lessons he learned from Eddie.

Thank you Keith.  Thank you Ian.

Here’s a list toplining 22 lessons for Leaders everywhere to reflect upon – and enjoy!

Eddie Jordan’s Business Beliefs

  • One Clear Goal
  • Show up, no matter what
  • Sweat the Assets – Make everything work
  • Teamwork and Focus improve performance
  • Stay Open – Ask, Listen, Learn

  • Commit Fully
  • Don’t Carry Baggage
  • Always Look for an Edge
  • Live Without a Dimmer Switch
  • Stay Humble
  • Trust is the Deal
  • Spot and Develop Talent
  • Take Risks
  • Rob the Bank without a Balaclava
  • Be Yourself and Inspire Others
  • Every Second Counts
  • Show up with a Smile
  • Always Carry Cash – and pass it on
  • Be the Elder others turn to
  • Do what you love, stay true to yourself, and don’t let anyone hold you back.

PS:  Keith – I hope a book is in the works.
