Men’s and Women’s Rugby World Cup will come to the US (at last!) in 2031 and 2033.
During my eight years as USA Rugby Chair, this was our dream – and Nothing is Impossible!!
Last week I headed back to my old beloved stomping ground of Cincinnati (where Alma Mater Procter & Gamble is headquartered) alongside the two Bobs – my successor as USA Rugby Chair – Bob Latham, and ex Lancaster Royal Grammar School Teacher/Coach and former President of The RFU – Bob Reeves.
Our mission – to help David Lind, and a distinguished group of Rugby loving Cincinnati based corporates galvanise Cincinnati’s movers, shakers, influencers, leaders and believers, to rally behind Cincinnati’s bid to be a host city for one of the World Cup’s set of qualifying matches.
We spoke at an afternoon gathering at the amazing TQL Stadium, home of FC Cincinnati (thank you Co-CEO Jeff Berding) to an audience of around 120 influential Cincinnati thought leaders.
The passion to win the Bid was exhilarating.
The commitment to deliver a world class experience was impressive.
The executional capability was clear for all to see.
The values of Cincinnati are almost a mirror image of World Rugby’s.
And the plans for a long-term Rugby Coaching legacy post RWC are well developed and articulated.
World Rugby will visit Cincinnati this month.
They will be welcomed and (hopefully) impressed and amazed.
All of Cincinnati awaits …
