Spent a relaxing late afternoon / early evening on the Boardwalk at Asbury Park last week – inspired by Bruce’s Road Diary (KRC July 18th).
It’s a breeze to get there from The Farm in Basking Ridge – about a 75 minute drive on the highway.
It’s a classic 70’s Jersey Shore spot.
A real boardwalk, The Stone Pony, the Old Paramount Theatre, old school taffy, ice-cream sundaes, pizza, rolling waves, sandy beach, grey sea – all old school. A couple of neat Springsteen-inspired stores. Very Atlantic – more North Sea Morecambe / Brighton than St Tropez!!!
