- 6.00pm: All is well at The Farm. Pasta Primavera from the Masterchef. Vanessa, Mark and Kendall join us – all upbeat – laughter and joy.
- 9.00pm: I can’t stand. Room spinning.
- 9.15pm: Sleep.
Dateline: Monday:
- 2.00am: Wake up. Room spinning. Dizzy. Can’t stay on my feet. On my way nowhere. Stumbling. Trudy wakes.
- 4.00am: Sleep.
- 5.00am: Awake. Room spinning.
- 5.20am: I vomit.
- 5.30am: Trudy calls 911.
- 5.35am: Two New Vernon cops arrive. First responders. Professional, friendly, calm.
- 5.45am: Ambulance pulls up. Kevin (!) Murphy and two others. Check all vitals. Blood pressure through the roof – 181/84.
- 5.50am: Red lights flashing in a cold New Jersey night.
- 5.55am: I vomit in bag in ambulance. Need two bags! Kevin spots Gatorade (also shows up!) and broccoli!
- 6.05am: Friendly cops and ambulance crew tell me how much they like The Farm and the art. Ask if I’m an artist!!
- 6.10am: Back on familiar territory. Red zone. Corridor. Bloods, EKG. Blood pressure coming down – 168/83.
- 7.15am: Shift change. New doctor – brilliant Dr Chan. Believes new symptoms – vomit, nausea, dizziness with eyes open – coupled with no warning heart or brain results from yesterday – indicate Vertigo. Puts a couple of pills into me plus nausea deterrent and hooks me up to IV. Arranges MRI brain-scan to be 100% sure.
- 9.30am: MRI done.
- 11.00am: Results all good. Dizziness reducing. Blood pressure at 141/74.
- 11.30am: Free!
- Mid-day: Sleep.
- 5.00pm: Write this blog. Ongoing treatment for Vestibular Neuritis – a form of Labyrinthitis – makes you feel very sick but not dangerous. Should be cleared this week. Cleared (just!) to fly to Desert Dream on Wednesday.
- 5.15pm: Gary on chair next to my desk.
- 7.00pm: Amend blog. Should be full recovery by weekend according to Dr Chan.
- 7.05pm: And a Merry Christmas to one and all!
