You may remember just over a year ago, I wrote a post on the Lexus 460 degrees exhibition in Los Angeles. This time it is the Italians who have inspired artists with Lexus to create a great experience radiating Mystery, Sensuality and Intimacy. Hats off to Japanese design sensations nendo who surrounded a concept Lexus vehicle with dreamlike forms that are both delicate and robust, strong and flexible. The exhibition “elastic diamond” was held at the Museo della Permanente in Milan in conjunction with Design Week and is another example of how designers are blurring the boundaries between design and art. nendo are as comfortable creating installations on the island of Naoshima, Japan (see my 20 things to do list), as designing fantastic furniture or creating chocolate pencils for a savvy new dessert. Watch out for more design as art as great creative talents push the boundaries with amazing new materials and technologies.
