Vitor Matos is one of the brightest Football coaches in the UK – bridging Liverpool’s elite development and 1st XI teams. He was a stand-out performer in last year’s UEFA Pro-Licence programme (KRC June 14 and May 24, 2022) and recently introduced me to Jürgen Klopp, Liverpool F.C.’s Manager and one of the top three coaches in the world, alongside Guardiola and Ancelotti. I spent two terrific days at Liverpool’s AXA Training Centre last week with Jürgen, his key coaching and leadership group, and his five man Player Leadership Group. We made a start on Personal Purposing, Inspirational Leadership and Mental Toughness. Liverpool is one of the great clubs in the UK, and in the world, and has been from the years of Bill Shankly, Bob Paisley, Kenny Dalglish to the current crop of legendary players, coaches and winners. They are Angry (at last year) and Hungry! Hungry to learn, to improve and to grow. Exhilarating.
Jürgen is a charismatic German (almost an oxymoron) who wears his heart on his sleeve and certainly has fire in the belly (ice in the mind – ermm – ?). The Operations team at the Club couldn’t be more welcoming (thank you Danielle 😀) and I’m looking forward to our next set of sessions.
